PRC "Online" Registration System

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) of the Philippines is [very] slowly upgrading their system. The commission already established satellite offices in SM Malls, just like what the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) did for the application of passport. PRC is also moving online because they placed some of the steps in getting professional license on their website.

One of the steps that PRC placed on their website is the online application for licensure exam. The commssion also placed application forms, petition forms and other forms, which can be downloaded by applicants and Filipino professionals.

Another resource that PRC included in their website is the Online Registration System.

Online oath form for registering to PRC

The Online Registration System can be used by those who passed the licensure exam and want to be registered with the PRC.

Unfortunately, registering with PRC cannot be done online. The Online Registration System only provides a way for professional to download their “oath form” before going to the PRC office. Other steps in registering should be done at the PRC office.

Please take note that you must bring the following documents before you to the PRC office.

1. The Oath Form that you printed from the PRC Online Registration System. Take note you don't to notarize this form.
2. One documentary stamp.
3. One one-by-one (1x1) picture in plain background with complete name tag. This is to be used for the registry of the professionals and also as photo for your PRC ID.
4. Community Tax Certificate (cedula). Make sure that the cedula is not expired.

Please check the PRC website for detailed procedures on registering as a professional.

PRC License Renewal should Go Online

A commenter in my post about professional license renewal at SM malls complained about the Professional Regulation Commission's (PRC) lack of renewal process that can be done via the Internet. His complaint is for those Filipino professionals who live very far from PRC regional offices. They will be forced to travel by boat just to renew their license.

I understand the commenter's predicament. In this age when the Internet already invaded many parts of our lives, it is sad to note that the PRC is still stuck with the “paper age”. It is good that the PRC has a website and some registration procedures can be done online. Those are not enough, however, because what's being offered on the PRC website are just online forms.

PRC license renewal

An example of this the PRC Online Application system. The website of PRC just provided a way of inputting your personal data and nothing else. You still need to go a PRC office to proceed to the next steps.

Another is the “online” initial registration system. The PRC website only provides a way for Filipino professionals to download the Oath Form. The next steps are to done again at the PRC office, thus Filipino professionals will be forced to visit them.

I hate it whenever I have to spend half of my day in renewing my professional license. I am sure that many Filipino professionals feel the same way too.

When will PRC improve their system? When will they catch-up and modernize their system of license renewal and initial registration of professional?

PRC Online Application

One of the things that I hate whenever I go to the office of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) is the long line. Every step on renewing the PRC license requires me to wait in line. Thus, I spend at least half day when I go to the PRC.

Thus, it is good that PRC is improving their services to remove the queue. One improvement is the creation of PRC satellite offices in SM Malls. Another is the PRC online application (Online Application System or OAS) for those who will be taking the licensure examintaions.

Unfortunately, the PRC online application is not a fully automated system. The system just provides an online application form, which should be filled up by applicants. They are then required to go to a PRC office to submit the requirements for the licensure exam.

Notheless, the PRC online application is one step for a queue-less system in PRC.
.
PRC Online Application - examinees answering PRC Licensure Exam

You need to go the PRC website so you can use the Online Application System. The website contains instructions that you should follow when filling up the online application form.

Take note that you should be careful when filling up the form because it will be a hassle for you if what you encoded is wrong.

For more information about the PRC online application, please contact PRC's Application Division at telephone number 314-0027. The line is only available from 8 AM to 5 PM,  Monday to Friday, except holidays.

Tips on Writing College Papers

The month of March is very near, which means that the end of the school year is also near. I am sure that many college students are swamped by their many requirements given to them by their teachers. One of these requirements that demand lot of time and efforts from students is writing papers.

Writing a college paper is not easy. I remember some nights, during my college years, that I stare blankly at the computer screen. I was trying very hard to think of something to write but nothing come out of my head. It took hours before I finally started to write the first sentence.

I know that is frustrating because I experienced such frustrations in the past. So, to reduce such frustrations, I created some guidelines that I followed to finish my required papers on time.
.

Here are those guidelines in writing:

1. Write ahead of time – I had the habit of procrastinating whenever the deadline for my papers is weeks away. I just play games or read novels without thinking of the required papers. Then I suddenly wake up that the deadline is near and I haven't done anything yet.

This habit is not productive because it will cause your mind to panic. Our mind gets blank once we panic. Thus, avoid procrastination and start working on your paper the moment the teacher gave it to you.

2. Research, research, research – A well-written paper is a well-researched paper. It is hard to write pages and pages of college paper if there is no input from other literature. Thus, it is very important that you do a research when you are writing your paper.

3. Seek examples – One of the thing that is hard to write is a thesis statement. So, what I did to find some examples of thesis statements to help me in creating my own thesis statement. Finding examples is good because you will learn a lot of writing styles that you can apply to your paper.

4. Find help – Writing your required paper is not the only requirements that you may have. Thus, there might be no time for you to finish it. The solution for this is to find help in wirting your paper. You can ask the help of your classmate, your friend or even your older brother. You can also go online seek some help from online writing services like the http://custom-writing.org/essay-help.

These are just few of the tips that I follow when writing papers (or even blog posts). I know that there are other tips out there. You may even have your own tips. If so, please share it to us by leaving a comment to this post.

How to Get Discount News from TigerAirways

I flew via Cebu Pacific, AirPhil ExpressZestAir and Philippine Airlines so much that I thought they are the only airlines that fly to the different destinations in the Philippines. I was surprised that my boss booked a flight at TigerAirways for our trip to Subic.

TigerAirways is one of the many budget airlines that are popping out like mushrooms in the airline industry. The competition between budget airlines is so fierce that they are topping one another in offering discount flights to travelers.

One night, my Beloved discovered a one (1)-peso discount fare from TigerAirways. After booking a flight, we discovered that TigerAirway's 1-peso discount fare cost less (after adding the taxes and surcharges) that the 1-peso discount fare of Cebu Pacific that we booked in the past.

Because of this, I decided that I should subscribe to notifications of discount fares from TigerAirways.

Step 1: I went to the TigerAirways website and clicked on the “e-deals sign up” button encircled red on the image below:
.
Website of TigerAirways

Step 2: Since I am cheapskate, I just clicked on the “Sign me up just to receive your regular e-newsletters” link. See the pop-up window on the image below.
.
Stripe subscription for TigerAirways

You can also opt to join the Stripes but you should have a $29.95 to pay the yearly subscription fee. Joining the stripes is recommended for those who travel very frequently.

Step 3: I then fill-up my name, e-mail address, mobile number and other contact number on the form. I then clicked the “Request for subscription” buttong after I filled-up the form.

Step 4: I then go to my e-mail and checked my inbox for the confirmation message sent by TigerAirways. I clicked on the link found in the confirmation message to finally verify my subscription to TigerAirways e-deals.
.
Confirmation message of TigerAirways

I know that confirmation is  successful because I read this on the the TigerAirways website:

You have successfully subscribed to our Latest Deals Newsletter! A confirmation message has been sent to your email address.

And that's it. All I have to do now is to check my inbox for news of discount fares from TigerAirways.
