PUPCET 2024 Requirements and Qualifications

Do you have questions about PUPCET? Ask me directly by following my Facebook page and leaving a comment or message.

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) is now in the process of accepting first year college students through their PUP College Entrance Test or PUPCET.

PUPCET is one of the most competitive college entrance exams in the country due to the sheer number of examinees. Thousands of senior high school graduates take the PUPCET every year for a chance to study in a reputable national state college.

If you are one of those interested in taking the PUPCET this 2024 then I suggest that you read the PUPCET requirements and the schedules of applications, as well as, the exams in various campuses of PUP.

PUPCET Requirements

To apply for PUPCET, the following requirements must be submitted online in JPEG format (,jpg or .jpeg) with file size not exceeding 300 kilobytes (kb):

1. Grade 11 Report Card that clearly shows your complete name, learner reference number (LRN), and the general weighted average (GWA) for first and second semesters.

2. 2 by 2-colored picture or photo with name tag. Note that your photo should look like this:

9 Important Tips for PUPCET Takers

Do you have questions about PUPCET? Ask me directly by following my Facebook page and leaving a comment or message.

The online application for the Polytechnic University of the Philippines College Entrance Test or PUPCET is now open.

I bet that many high school students wanted to go to this prestigious university. Unfortunately, only 8,000 of the average 50,000 PUPCET examinees are admitted to PUP. That means that only 16% of the total examinees pass the PUPCET.

PUP Logo - PUPCET

How to avoid being included in 86% PUPCET non-passers? I suggest that you follow these 10 PUPCET tips:

1. Study Study Study

Break your habit of not studying for quizzes and periodical exams in high school. I suggest that you study and study more. Go back to your high Math, Science, and English. Read some history and current events for the General Information part of the PUPCET coverage.

2. Do not Over Study

Studying is good but you must make sure to have enough rest, especially the night before the exam. You need to be alert and sleepy on the day of PUPCET.

3. Arrive Early

Thousands of students will go to PUP campus on the day of the exam. So, you must expect heavy traffic. Arrive at PUP early so you can relax a little before the exam starts.

4. Bring Your Test Permit

No test permit = no exam. PUP, of course, will help you in case that you forget your test permit but it will cause you plenty of stress.

5. Answer What You Know First

Do not waste time on questions that you don't know the answer. Skip those items first then go back to them later.

6. Listen to the Proctor

The PUPCET proctors will lay down the rules before the start of exam. Listen to them to avoid confusion.

7. Don't Take the Exam on an Empty Stomach

Eat your meal (i.e. breakfast or lunch) before taking the PUPCET so you will have enough energy to last the grueling exam. You may also snacks and bottled water in the testing area.

8. Be Mindful of the Time

PUPCET is difficult because you have to answer around 200 questions within 2 hours. Do not waste your time on difficult questions.

9. Do not Rely on Leaked PUPCET Questions

There may be leaked PUPCET questions being shared around before the exam. Do not rely on leaked PUPCET questions because these may be fake.

BONUS TIP: Join Online Groups

There are plenty of online groups in Facebook where PUPCET takers share tips and help each other. I suggest that you join these groups to get the latest news about PUPCET. I also suggest that you monitor the PUP Facebook page.

PUPCET Coverage 2017

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) recently opened the online application for its College Entrance Test or PUPCET.

According to the schedule of the PUPCET in the PUP website, the PUPCET Online Application for the PUP – Sta. Mesa Campus is from August 1 to October 6, 2017. The PUPCET in Sta. Mesa campus will be on October 14, 2017.

PUPCET Schedule for PUP Santa Mesa

If you are planning to enroll into PUP, then you must know the PUPCET Coverage or the subjects that you should study when you will take the PUPCET.

PUPCET coverage or the subjects are normally four and these are:

Mathematics
English
Science
General Information

For the Mathematics subject, you must study the algebra and basic math that you learned in High School.

For the English subject, you must expect reading comprehension.

For the Science subject, you must review on high school Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.

Finally, for the General Information, you must review on history and Araling Panlipunan. Reading about the latest news and issues will also help you pass this part of the PUPCET Coverage.

PUPCET questions are not that difficult. Me and my siblings all had an easy time taking the PUPCET. What difficult is the time limit. PUPCET examinees are expected to answer about 200 questions within 2 hours!

I suggest that you review and study hard so that you will be one of the few examinees who will pass the PUPCET.

Special PUPCET for PUP - Santa Mesa

There is a good news for high school graduates who want to study in the Santa Mesa (Manila) campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) but did not took the last PUPCET. PUP announced a special PUPCET that will be held on April 27, 2013. The announcement was given on the Offcial Facebook page of PUP.

Unfortunately, the announcement is not present in the PUP website. The iApply website only show that the PUPCET for the PUP - Santa Mesa campus is already closed. There were two batches for this year's PUPCET. The first set of PUPCET was held on January 27, 2013 while the second set was held on February 17, 2013. Nonetheless, the PUP - Santa Mesa campus is still included in the options to be selected when applying for the PUPCET, which may mean that the PUP - Santa Mesa campus is still open for PUPCET.

PUP - Santa Mesa campus is still included in the iApply website.

Take note that the April 27 special PUPCET is only open for high school graduates that have not taken the PUPCET nor became a college student yet. Other requirements for the regular PUPCET also applies to this special PUPCET.

This special PUPCET is the last chance for high school graduates to become first year students (freshmen) of PUP - Santa Mesa. So, if you are a high school graduate and you want to study in PUP - Santa Mesa, I highly suggest that you take this opportunity. It is important that you take this special PUPCET.

PUPCET for SY 2013 - 2014 is Now Open

Note: For the updated schedules for Metro Manila campuses, please visit this link.

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) just opened the application for the PUP College Entrance Test (PUPCET) for the upcoming school year of 2013 – 2014. This announcement was made on the PUP iApply website, which is the official website for PUPCET.

I am sure that many high school graduating students, especially from public high schools, are aiming to enter PUP, which is one of the prestigious public university of the country.

Take note that application for PUPCET can only be made via the PUP iApply website. There is no need for you to go to a PUP campus to apply for PUPCET.

Please take note of the following schedules for PUPCET online application:
.
PUPCET schedule
(Source: PUP iApply)

Also take note that these schedules are only for the Santa Mesa Campus of PUP.

Do not forget that the deadline for submitting your online application for PUPCET is on December 10, 2012. I think that PUP will not extend this deadline. So, you must apply now if you are considering to take the PUPCET.

A new improvement for the online PUPCET application is that test permits can now be claimed online. Thus, PUPCET applicants do not need to go to any PUP campus just to get there PUPCET permits. Applicants will go to the campuses just during the examination date.

This improvement of online PUPCET application is impressive. It greatly reduced the hassle that the students and parents will experience when applying for PUPCET.

Reminders for PUPCET Examinees

The day for PUPCET on January 29 is getting nearer and nearer. I know that many of PUPCET examinees are already nervous for the upcoming exams. The large number of comments I received on my post, Tips for PUPCET, is a proof of this. Many PUPCET examinees are asking for tips, leaks and answers. I guess it high time to give PUPCET examinees some important reminders before January 29 comes. Here are they are:

1. Reduce your anxiety - Many graduating high school students wanted to enter the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) because of its low tuition fee. The competition is high that is why the anxiety of PUPCET examinees are also high.

Giving in to anxiety will never help you in passing the PUPCET. Anxiety gives unnecessary stress to your brain and it will surely affect your performance when taking the entrance exam. So, it is important to reduce anxiety and focus more on the positive side of things. One thing that you can do is to relax a bit in your reviews. Don't be too hard on yourself.

2. Always check the PUP Website for updates. PUP is gearing up on the use of online resources to improve its services to the students and the public. Important announcement are placed by the PUP admin on the PUP website. Thus, important announcements regarding the PUPCET will also be placed on the website.

3. Don't forget your PUPCET slip and prepare the things that you will use for the exams. Never forget to bring your PUPCET slip because you will not allowed to take the PUPCET if you don't have it. You should also bring your school ID or other IDs that can be used for identification purposes.

4. Have a good sleep the night before the exam day. Your brain needs a good rest so that it will perform well during the PUPCET. Being sleepy during the exam may result to a low grade that will bar your entry to PUP.

5. Travel early – Expect heavy traffic at PUPCET testing centers, specifically PUP Santa Mesa campus, on the day of the exam. So, it is advisable that you go to PUPCET testing centers at least an hour before the exam. Running to the PUPCET testing center to reach it right on time is not a good idea to start your exam.

Do you want to pass the PUPCET, then I suggest that you heed these reminders of mine.

Tips for PUPCET

It’s been years ago when I took my PUPCET. I remember taking PUPCET because I was not sure of passing the UPCAT. For those who do not know, PUPCET stands for PUP College Entrance Exam. PUP or Polytechnic University of the Philippines is the second most popular state university in the Philippines. It has lower tuition fee as compared to the University of the Philippines. PUP is also the school where poor students go since UP increased its tuition fee by 300% from the old tuition fee of 300 pesos.

Because of UP’s exorbitant tuition fee, many students flock the PUPCET in the hope of entering a cheap but reputable university. I remember the last time when I accompanied my sister to take her PUPCET. PUP ground is full with people and I am sure that it will be the same this coming Sunday, when I accompany my brother to PUP.

Taking and passing PUPCET is easy, especially if you prepared and studied well for the exam. Visit my article, Tips on Taking UPCAT, ACET, DLSUCET other College Entrance Exams, for general tips on preparing for an exam. Scroll down for tips in taking the PUPCET.

1. Go to PUPCET Examination Area Early

Going early to examination area is a must so as to avoid being late. I have seen many students running like mad just to reach their rooms after the bell signaling the start of the PUPCET rang. If your testing area is in PUP Main Campus in Santa Mesa, Manila then you must expect heavy traffic because many people will go to the PUP Main Campus and the volume of people creates traffic jam.

The advantage of reaching the PUPCET test area early is that you have time to relax and prepare yourself for the exam to come.

2. Bring Your Test Permit and Your School ID and other Documents

Never forget to bring your test permit! There are PUPCET examinees who forgot their test permits and they try to beg the examiners to take the exams. Examiners may allow you to take PUPCET but you have to pass many processes, which put you in great stress and might affect your mood in taking the exam.

Bringing your school ID and other documents like school record is also good because if there are some problems, then you have the documents that you need to back yourself up. You should always prepare for the worst.

3. Do Study the Exam Subjects

According to my sister, who took PUPCET two years ago, the exam is subdivided into four subjects and those are Mathematics, Science, English, and General Information. For the English subject, expect that there will be reading comprehension. For the General Information, expect questions about current events so be sure that you updated about the recent events and the big news in our country.

4. Mind the Time When Taking the Exam

PUPCET is easy and most of the questions are multiple choice questions so it is easy to guess the answer if you do not know the answer. Though PUPCET is easy, the catch is the short time limit for every subject. The trick here is to be fast when answering questions. Answer the questions that you know the answer first and skip those questions that you have no or unsure answers. This will make sure that you have at least sure points for the exam. Then, start answering the questions that you skipped. If you don’t really know the answer, then all you have to do is to guess.

Be always mindful of the time when taking PUPCET. Time during the exam run very fast and if you are a slowpoke then you’re doomed. However, don’t sacrifice speed for correctness. You must make sure that you are shading the right letter when you are answering the exam.

5. Don’t Rely on Leaks or Cheat Sheets

There is cheat sheet or a leak of the PUPCET that circulated when I took my PUPCET. I got hold of the cheat sheet and studied it diligently. However, I did not trust the cheat sheet much so I continue my review routine. Then, when the exam came, there’s a rumor that the PUPCET admin changed all the questions because they discovered the leakage. Thus, those people who relied on the cheat sheet were fried and failed the exam. The moral of the story is not to depend on cheat sheet or leakage. It is ok to study the cheat sheet to give you insight of the exam but don’t rely on it alone because if the leakage was discovered, you will surely fail.

So that is my tips when you are taking PUPCET. Hope that my tips help you and if you have other tips or experience when taking the PUPCET, then don’t be shy to share it by leaving a comment.
